NSF Energy Storage Engine joins NY-BEST Capture the Energy 2026 Conference and hosts Upstate New York infrastructure workshop

The NSF Energy Storage Engine participated in the NY-BEST Capture the Energy 2026 Conference and Expo in Albany, New York, a premier gathering for companies seeking opportunities in the rapidly growing energy storage industry across New York State and the northeastern United States. The conference drew approximately 500 energy storage industry experts focused on advancing battery technology, modernizing grid and transportation systems, and growing the energy storage economy.

Ahead of the conference, the Engine hosted a half-day pre-conference workshop: Powering Scale: Advancing Battery Infrastructure in Upstate New York. The session brought together approximately 75 startups, industry leaders, investors, research institutions, supply chain partners, and workforce development organizations for an in-depth look at the region’s battery testbed and infrastructure ecosystem, from prototyping and pilot-scale capabilities to advanced testing, materials development, manufacturing scale-up, and workforce support. The conversation surfaced the gaps, bottlenecks, and opportunities that will shape Upstate New York’s continued competitiveness as a national leader in battery innovation.

The Engine also tabled throughout the event, connecting with industry leaders and partners from across the region and beyond.

NY-BEST is a core Engine partner. The Engine’s participation in Capture the Energy reflects the depth of that partnership and the Engine’s ongoing role in advancing battery innovation, expanding domestic manufacturing capacity, and growing the regional energy storage economy.
